What Is InkSlop?

A plain-English guide to what InkSlop does, who it's for, and how it turns text into published video in minutes.

The InkSlop Team

InkSlop is a video creation platform built around a simple premise: if you can write it, you can publish it as video.

You bring the words: a script, a story, a poem, a Reddit thread. InkSlop handles the voice, the visuals, the timing, and the upload. No editing software, no audio gear, no timeline wrangling.

Who Is It For?

InkSlop is built for three kinds of people:

Content creators who want to ship more without burning out. Instead of spending hours in a video editor, you write your script, pick a voice and vibe, and get a ready-to-publish file in a few minutes.

Developers and teams who need video at scale. InkSlop's DSL (Domain Specific Language) is designed to be generated by LLMs. You can pipe in a topic, get a structured script back, and render it to video: all programmatically, all repeatable.

Writers and educators who have a lot to say but no video production background. If you're comfortable in a text editor or Obsidian, you're comfortable making videos with InkSlop.

How Does It Work?

At a high level, every InkSlop video starts as structured text. You write (or generate) a description of what the video should look and sound like, then InkSlop renders it.

1. Pick a template or start from scratch

The quickest path is a preset template: Reddit Story, Poem, Joke, Text-to-Speech. Paste in content and InkSlop figures out the rest.

For full control, use the Raw DSL editor.

2. Write your video in the DSL

The InkSlop DSL is a lightweight markup language for describing video. It looks like this:

[tts voice="af_heart"]
Did you know the mantis shrimp can punch with the force of a bullet?
[/tts]

[music src="ambient/deep-focus" volume="0.3"]

Each block declares a segment: a line of speech, a music bed, a video clip. InkSlop assembles them in order, syncs the audio, and renders the final file.

3. Generate with AI

Don't want to write the DSL by hand? Hit Generate with AI, describe what you want in plain English, and the AI writes the DSL for you. You can tweak it, regenerate sections, or publish it as-is.

4. Publish

When the video is ready it lands in your dashboard. From there you can download it or publish directly to YouTube, with title, description, and tags pre-filled from your script.

What Does It Cost?

InkSlop runs on a credit system. One credit is worth roughly one minute of rendered video, one AI generation, or one asset operation. You start with a free allocation, and paid plans unlock more credits, higher storage, and priority rendering.

See the pricing page for the full breakdown.

What's Next?

InkSlop is actively developing. Features on the roadmap include:

  • More TTS voices (multilingual support in progress)
  • Custom background music uploads
  • Scheduled publishing and content calendars
  • API access for fully automated pipelines
  • More platform integrations beyond YouTube
