Violence: kill
Fine in stories and news with context; graphic detail, especially in the title or thumbnail, is what limits ads. Milder: "defeat".
Engagement bait: Like and subscribe
Asking for likes, follows or comments in the caption can be treated as engagement bait on some platforms; say it in the video instead, briefly.
Context matters more than words
No word is banned on its own: platforms judge the whole video. A history channel can talk about wars and a true crime story about murder. What gets videos restricted is graphic detail, shock in the title or thumbnail, and anything that promotes harm. This list is a guide to look twice, not a rulebook; read YouTube's advertiser-friendly content guidelines and TikTok's community guidelines for the real rules.
Talking about suicide or self-harm? Treat it with care and add a helpline in the description; don't swap in code words to get around the rules.
