Audio Loudness Checker (LUFS)

Is your video too quiet next to the one before it, or so loud that YouTube turns it down? Drop in an audio or video file to measure its loudness the way the platforms do (ITU-R BS.1770). The file is analysed in your browser, never uploaded.

What the numbers mean

LUFS measures how loud something sounds over its whole length, weighted the way ears hear. YouTube plays louder videos quieter, to about −14 LUFS, so mixing louder than that only costs you dynamics. Short-form video usually sits between −14 and −16; podcasts often aim for −16. Keep peaks below −1 dBFS.

The peak shown is the sample peak; true peak (between samples) can be slightly higher.
